About me

River No 2 Beach Sierra Leone

Welcome to my blog. My name is Jorgo, abroad they call me George most of the time. I live in Belgium and I spend a lot time travelling. I am mostly interested in unusual destinations. When I tell others where I am planning to go they frown most of the time. “Don’t go” or “It’s dangerous” are typical responses I get. While many people make up their opinions from the news, I prefer to stay curious and think out of the box. So far this has created a lot of rewarding experiences for me. I made this blog to share you my experience in several countries, I am not here to discuss politics however.

I’ve been visiting Sierra Leone a lot lately because I am involved in a school project there. The project built a primary school for the children who cannot afford to go to school. You can read more about this project on eyeforsalone.be.

As a frequent traveller I got tired of flying economy cattle class. I started chasing Star Alliance status since 2018 and continue to achieve FlyingBlue status in 2019. I also use IHG loyalty program to get the best out of my stays. By being creative, I try to travel as much as possible in business class with miles, cheap upgrades, stand-by tickets, error fares/deals or free upgrades from loyality status.

My first solo trip and Couchsurfing experience outside Europe was Kenya back in 2013. Since then I’ve started travelling frequently. I am also hobby photographer and if I have the chance to do some urban exploring when travelling, I will take that opportunity for sure.

Here is a list of all flights I’ve done this year.

Do not use my photos without permission. On very rare occassions I use photos from Pixabay.com, free stock photos if I need it to show a place I was but did not manage to take a good picture or I might use it as a comparison. Generally, over 99% of the pictures are mine.
