How to use American Express Platinum Belgium Points
Your Membership Rewards Points are very flexible. You can transfer your points to various partners, such as Emirates, Miles & More (which covers the Lufthansa Group and Brussels Airlines), as well as Finnair, Delta Airlines and British Airways. Thanks to the collaboration of British Airways with Iberia and Qatar Airways you can also use your converted Avios for these airlines.

By converting your American Express Membership Rewards Points for 3:2, 150.000 points can be used to convert them to 100.000 Avios. These Avios can then be used to book business class tickets with for example Qatar Airways. I booked a flight from Brussels to Oman via Doha with Qatar Airways in Business Class and Regional First Class with Al Safwa First Class Lounge Access return-trip for 90.000 Avios + taxes.
Other ways to use your points is by converting 1:1 to Hilton or Marriott points, where you can book hotel nights. Hilton has great redemptions such as the private villa’s in Bali.
Important things to know about American Express Platinum Belgium
- The American Express card has an annual fee of 780 euro.
- American charges conversion fees for foreign currencies other than euro.
- The American Express is not accepted everywhere, but is accepted at supermarkets (Carrefour, Lidl), fuel stations (Q8), a lot of online webshops and many more. For the complete list, visit the American Express Portal.

Is my points it ok i cancel my card after i receive my reward points? Or do i have to keep the card for 1 year?
I cannot find something in the ToS but it is advised to stay at least 12 months so that it is not considered misuse. Else, you have the risk that the points could get revoked.

Hi, you have to make sure to get the spending requirement to receive the reward points. After that, you have to check what is allowed as per Terms of Services by American Express.
And how can I transfer my points to Qatar Airways? Im living in Belgium
You can add your British Airways account to your American Express account after you can login on their website. Then you can easily link British Airways Avios with Qatar Airways Avios account to spend. The transfer can be done online on their website easily.
